In Harm's Way

Although In Harm's Way is grounded in personal experience, it is by no means a mere memoir or protest. Rather, it is a comprehensive, easy-to-read guide to obtaining benefits written expressly for veterans and their families. Filled with horrifying but true facts about the senseless operations of veterans' affairs departments, Thornton's work is long past due as she lends voice to those without hope. Thornton's bravery both in battling for her husband's health and in dedicating herself to helping others is beyond commendable; she clearly is a new variety of hero. 5Jane Smith Thornton writes from the heart  May 20, 2006
I happen to know this author as we grew up in the same small town in Alabama. I am aware of the sad reason she was motivated to write this very heartfelt and necessary book. I won't tell you why Jane took on a mission and didn't let go until she was successful, but I suggest you read this important book to find out. And, if you have a loved one in the military, it is imperative that you acquaint yourself with this story. Actually, the book should be required reading for anyone intending to join any branch of our armed services. I, for one, am inspired by Jane and the enormous efforts she is making to help others...
