3I Knew This Man  Oct 19, 2009
I bought this book because I actually knew Dial years ago when I had a little gift shop/gallery. I sold his sculptures in the shop. I brought Dial whom I knew as Randolph Franklin to town for the grand opening of my shop, and gave away one of his works as a door prize. Many years later I wondered whatever happened to him. I did a google search and discovered that he was at that time an escaped murderer. I remember being shocked by this news since he had been in my home and in my presence for several days back in the early 80s. Some years later I discovered this book on Amazon and decided to order it to see what he had to say. Dial, now deceased tells the story of his time on the run as an escaped convict with his companion (and deputy warden's wife) Bobbie Parker. For the most part it's an interesting read, but I would really only recommend it to those who knew the man or who had purchased his artwork over the years.
