Inferno Diary - Was It A Dream? Oct 18, 2001
"Inferno Diary" is an interesting read and works on many levels. The plot is original and intriguing. I commend the author for taking on such an ambitious task, for translating Dante's "Devine Comedy" into terms that illustrate the fears, anxieties, elations and expectations of the modern gay community. Creating an "Inferno" out of a downtown sex club where the protagonist encounters ex-lovers in action - sometimes a bit too graphic - and a "Paradiso" at an upper-east-side cocktail party thrown by a theatrical agent who thinks he's Bette Davis's "All About Eve" character Margo Channing adds a really interesting twist.Once the author gets past the beginning, the writing flows nicely. The characters are well developed and quite enjoyable, especially in Part II at the cocktail party. I was entertained, appalled, angered, enlightened and riveted by the characters and events in this book.
