Inherited Wealth: Opportunities and Dilemmas

This is a penetrating guide for transforming the inheritance process. Filled with wisdom and insights for families, inheritors, and their advisors, Inherited Wealth explores a broad range of issues that often arise through the transmission of wealth within a family—and then responds to these in a healing and transformative way. Whether you are leaving an inheritance or receiving one, or are a professional working with a family, this book identifies the major challenges and provides guidance for working with them. Ultimately, this is a book about living an enriched life—one that includes personal and spiritual growth, contribution, and legacy. “John’s book shines with aliveness, truth telling, compassion and hope for inheritors, their families, and advisors. Here is a guidebook for the journey of awakening to the challenges and blessings of wealth.” —Tracy Gary, author, Inspired Philanthropy: Creating a Giving Plan and Leaving a Legacy, and founder, Inspired Legacies.

5More than just a "family wealth" book  Aug 08, 2008
Levy's book does a great job of dealing with the issue of family wealth, but it does quite a bit more. The chapter on wisdom, for instance, should be reprinted in a national magazine; it's a gem in it's own right. And it covers a lot of stuff about intergenerational relationships that applies to families at all economic levels. Very readable, Levy is a lucid and compelling writer. Just note his background in the thumbnail bio. to see the breadth of his experience and understanding.

NB: It's unlikely that would have ever encountered this book, but I happen to know about the author and became curious. So I'm afraid that it's likely to remain a hidden gem because of it's apparent niche status.
