An Insider's View Oct 06, 2006
By Anthony Boyd To be honest I did not have high expectations for this book. I have read or attempted to read many business books purporting to tell you the full story only to have been disappointed by lack of candour on behalf of the author. The other fear I held was that like most business books this one would contain too much jargon which is often the refuge of people who can't write.
Jeffrey Hauser's book exceeded my expectations. Not only did he lift the veil to reveal the inside workings of a Yellow Pages business, he did it in a way that was enjoyable to read.
He has mixed up anecdotes from his experiences over a period of 25 years with detailed descriptions of how the business evolved under different management and ownership. He reveals how some sales staff profited from loopholes in the system and how his allegiance to his customers was gradually eroded by management directives for higher and higher sales targets.
Who would have thought that the humble Yellow Pages would be the catalyst for such great stories?

BETWEEN THE SHEETS Nov 30, 2008

I am preparing to retire from the yellow page industry after almost 28 years. I would know whether Mr. Hauser's book was candid or a vehicle for profit. I can tell you this man knows the business and told it the way it is. In additon, the book has a duel component. Any person considering going into business will get a tangible benefit. They will learn the do's and don'ts of not only yellow pages but marketing. Bravo Jeffrey Hauser! Thanks for sharing with the world what goes on "between the sheets". The yellow sheets. good book Nov 12, 2008
By WDH I just started as a yellow page sales rep. This book was better at giving me insight as to the job I will be performing but not as much information on writing a great ad copy.I was hoping to read it to better help my customers write great ad copy but only a small amount of the book was devoted to doing that.

The following are testimonials written by former clients:
"One of the best business decisions I ever made was letting Jeff Hauser design my Yellow Pages ad programs. The results were far more profitable than anything I had done before. I highly recommend that you trust his judgment. I do."
- Bob Cunningham, owner of "Exercise Equipment of Arizona" in Phoenix and Scottsdale

"My wife and I started up our A/C & appliance service company over 20 years ago with one truck, and two phones. Jeff Hauser was our first yellow page rep. We planned out our first advertising strategy with him in 1986. Over that time, our company expanded into two states. Jeff helped us keep our yellow page advertising up to date and on the
cutting edge. With his experience and insight of the Yellow Page business, you can take any advice Jeff offers, to the bank."
-Larry Calloway, owner of "Valley Services" an a/c & appliance repair firm in Mesa, AZ

"I had several YP reps before Jeff and my ad was just okay. When Jeff took over my account he took it to another level. Jeff took a personal interest in designing & creating my ad to make it the most distinguished and interesting in the book. After 18 years using the same one, I still get compliments. "
Carol Hall, owner of "The Flower Shoppe" Tempe, AZ

"Jeff Hauser's decades of experience and artistic abilities helped our insurance company substantially increase sales and net profits.
The number of phone call's from our yellow page advertising rose more than 100% and our return on investment increased 200%. Jeff helped our company capture our "target market" customers while keeping our advertising costs to a small percentage of our total sales.
- Dominic Gervasi, owner of "Insurance Referral Service," Tempe, AZ
