Intermediate Dari Feb 04, 2010
By Diba A. Hadi This is quite possibly the best Dari book out there. It is an excellent book for the post-beginner learner of Dari. It is comprehensive and well-integrate. Whether you're taking classes or just studying Dari on your own, this book will definitely help you. Instead of just teaching you pointless vocabulary items with tiny bits of grammar, Intermediate Dari describes to you the structure and logic of Dari Language. Those of us who studied various languages and/or teach languages, know that all languages possess a certain logic to them. The logic of the Dari language is a bit different from that of English. This book won't just teach basic grammar, it will immerse the reader in learning how to form your own sentences and teach you the language the way languages should be taught. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is NOT a beginner, but intermediate/advance.

A resourceful book for Dari learners! Feb 28, 2010
By M. Nasafi Intermediate Dari is a great book for persons seeking to learn Dari. I highly recommend this book to fellow Dari language learners and native speakers wanting to improve their reading skills. It is especially a good book for young Afghans as myself who have been living outside of Afghanistan and never got the formal academic education in Dari language.
The book includes a good selection of reading materials which are clearly printed for easy reading. The included vocabulary definitions and exercises provide good learning enforcement for material read. The book is published in the right to left format forcing the reader to flip pages from the left to right order. It is not an annoyance considering the text is mainly Dari and the author does point this issue out in the preface.
The author has included his email address in the book and is willing to provide further help as I recently requested of him. I really appreciate the personal attention he gave me since I don't know many authors who do the same.
A word of caution though, as the obvious title suggests, this book is NOT intended for beginner learners starting out to learn Dari language.

An excellent gap-filler! Mar 22, 2010

This volume fills in the gap for those who have some reading knowledge of Persia, but who want to expand this with particular reference to the Persian of Afghanistan. It is very well constructed and helpful. not an easy read by any means, but the nor should it be! If you are interested in the languages of this part of the world then have a look. I do not think that you will be disappointed. WILLIAM

Great Resource for Dari Learners! Feb 04, 2010
By J. Butler I found this book to be an excellent resource for increasing my understanding and use of the Dari language. Having had a basic introduction to the language previously, I found that the book confirmed some of what I already knew about the language, grammar structures, etc., while also expanding my learning into new directions. The footnotes and glossaries are very helpful for putting the language into cultural context. I would highly recommend this book and the corresponding audio CD to anyone who has an interest in learning the Dari language.

Dari Language Intro Aug 20, 2009
By J C This book is not bad for an introduction, but it is still far from great. There are typos and incorrect terms in this book and the numbering of pages is Afghan style (confusing) with the beginning of the book to the right and the end of the book to the left (which the author does apologize for). I purchase every Dari book and product I can find in order to improve my Dari but this book did more to cause confusion than offer assistance. Nevertheless, it was worth the money I spent and it does help with reading and writing Dari as well as speaking.
