very few books have affected me like this one has. When the ending of a book is shocking to the point of physiological changes like heartbeat and sweating, you know that you have a gem. This was my state after finishing this book- I just sat there and stared as if in shock. The book is good throughout and Nick Trempus does a great job of describing things, especially characters. Another thing that impressed me was the cohesion of the storyline. Several times during the book I thought that I had uncovered an oversight, only to discover that the author was 2 steps ahead of me the whole time. I look forward to his next book...

This book is exceptional. The author is very detailed and descriptive; he really makes you feel what the main character is feeling. I was so shocked at the end, i had to read the last chapter a few times.
The story itself is so engrossing and so different from any I have read before. As hard as I tried to remain disaffected, about 100 pages before the end I felt actual pain knowing there was a last page. As I came to know the main character, I wanted to reach into the pages and help. Honestly, I have never felt quite this way about a book before. I cannot wait to read it again.

As I read "Jake" I kept wondering if this was autobiographical. Such insight into a kid who gets picked on and then feels the need to get even. And yes, the ending was even weirder than the book.

"Jake" is nothing short of pure genius. The storyline is easy to follow, with plenty of twists to keep the reader entertained. It really picks up pace toward the end and I found myself unable to wait to see what happens next. The ending of "Jake" makes you want to go back and read the book all over again, and you get a definite appreciation for the skill and talent that the author has put into this book.

An exceptional read. Couldnt put it down. So highly recommended, I purchasing copies as presents! Everyone should read this, as everyone can relate to something in this book. It is dark, gritty and just a tad bit twisted. The ending blew my mind. Cant wait for more from this author!!!!
