Jan 20, 2009, true stories real people one day: The Inauguration of Barack Obama

Jan 20, 2009 is an on-the-ground account of Barack Obama’s inauguration as the 44th President of the United States. Written by a mix of 58 citizen journalists and bestselling authors, it is a commemorative record. Contributors include American Book Award and 2009 NAACP Image Award winner Tananarive Due, Washington Wizards’ NBA player/poet Etan Thomas, author Victoria Christopher Murray, actress Malinda Williams, a Ugandan journalist, and a volunteer who opened a grassroots Obama campaign office.

Culled from hundreds of stories submitted on WEbook.com’s online platform, Jan 20, 2009 is a chronicle of how the inauguration of Barack Obama affected us—across 60 diverse essays, including tales from the Mall in DC, from ex-pats living abroad, and from those who played hooky from their jobs to mark the day. In tribute to them, all author royalties and publisher profits from the sale of the book will be donated to 826 National, a not-for-profit tutoring, writing, and publishing

5Many Perspectives  Feb 27, 2009
By Scott Tiernan
Great to have a book that offers a collective perspective on such an historic day. There are several established writers who contributed; a pro athlete; high school students; and so on. Favorite pieces are the first-hand accounts of the day in D.C. Very cool this book could be put out so fast!

5Lovely Commemoration of this Historic Inauguration  Mar 03, 2009
By R. Wilson-Shore "Shakespeare's Girl"
I loved reading the insights from the variety of contributing authors in this impressive collection. I was moved to tears by the emotional journeys that led many authors to that historic day. And, I laughed out loud at some of the more light-hearted, sweet, and endearing moments.

This book makes a great commemorative piece for yourself or as a gift for those who were moved and exhilerated by Obama's unlikely triumph, and the subsequent hope that his presidency has brought to this great nation.

5A Poignant, Pleasurable Read  Feb 27, 2009
By Mary A. Earhart
The warmth, humor and feelings of a nation are so well expressed here. This book added to my own sense of celebration over an extremely important historical event. A must for collectors (I wish I'd kept my dad's Kennedy campaign buttons) and those who want to preserve the event for future generations in a unique way.

5interesting and insightful!  Aug 06, 2009
By avidreader
This book is very interesting, written by some seasoned writers and some new ones represented by all ages. One author stands out, leaving me to seach for more of his work, Brian Frederick is his name and I think you will be seeing more of him in the near future!
