3A quick overview with some Java to read  Mar 09, 2009
By Chris A. Cunningham
I don't recommend this as a first or only book on Neural Nets. It is very thin on background and skips some critical math. The code appears to be a very simple implementation of NN concepts. Simple is relatively difficult with NN's so I'm not being critical. The author is a High School student and the writing shows the lack of background but he is obviously a very talented individual.

5easy to catch the basic concept  Jul 06, 2008

Great Resource! Very practical with the source code, easy to catch the basic concept of neural network, great independent work!

5Not specifically Java  Dec 12, 2010
By M. Jackson
This is written in Java, which is why I purchased the book. I already knew how neural networks worked. I found the book somewhat useless as I thought there would be more focus on the Java side of how to program one, not simply the code for a Java version, without much discussion of efficiency.

This book is simply a beginner introduction to neural networks using Java. It is written by a high school student, which I can respect, but this most likely also detracts from the depth.
