Jayben Treat:: And The Burglar of Barmoth

Written in a Sherlock Holmes style of adventure and mystery, this book will keep you spell bound until the very last minute. It is the story of ten-year-old Jayben Treat , who with his friends, accidentally discover that a black curse has been placed on their school of magic. Unsure of whom they can trust to tell about this find, they set out on their own to prevent an unknown catastrophe from taking place. Filled with self-doubt and uncertainty, they eventually gain the confidence to use their untested and awkward magical abilities to overcome obstacles and entrapment's set before them. Despite setbacks, the characters pursue a number of suspects through various locations, leading to a twist ending that reverses what the characters and the readers have been led to believe. What they also uncover in the process is far more revealing about themselves and their destinies.

5Wonderful book for everyone  Apr 26, 2008
By Allen Bailey
I am 67 years old and a huge Potter fan. At first, I thought this was a Potter clone, but after reading it, I discovered it was quite different. However, it was just as exciting and very creative. Mr. Mesler is quite a storyteller, and this is an excellent first book. I look forward to more adventures of Jayben.

5GREAT KID'S BOOK!  Apr 21, 2008
By McKenzie
I just finished the whole book on Friday night and I thought it was really good! First of all, every chapter leaves you hanging so you never want to put the book down! My favorite part was at the end when Jayben, Jenna, Egan, Professor Beasley were in the room with Professor Vortigern because there was so much intensity. I also liked when Jayben was going on each step, trying to become King. After I was finshed reading for the day I would wonder what it would be like to be a wizard and have magical powers! All in all, Jayben Treat and the Burglar of Barmoth is a WONDERFUL book for everyone to read! It is now my favorite book!!! McKenzie age 11 - San Diego California
