Jesus, the Confronting Christ: What if you met a Jesus you did not expect?

Garland McWatters set out to discover a Jesus he could relate to; so he read the gospels putting aside, as best he could, his preconceptions about Jesus. He found himself more interested in the personal encounters of Jesus’ life than in the parables, teachings, and miracles that we usually study. He found much of what the gospels have to offer is located between the lines. He discovered a Jesus who was anything but meek, but who was eager for a confrontation and usually took the initiative. He could be calculating, abrasive, and sarcastic as well as compassionate, tender, and forgiving. He was without question a man’s man. The author wondered, “If I encountered Jesus face to face, with what would he confront me?” The result was this series of reflections on many of the confrontations Jesus experienced and some questions about our own lives those confrontations provoke. Get ready to be confronted with the question Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do you say I am?”
