Jofi:: Star Seeker

When three teenagers-a short, chunky, redheaded Texan, his nemesis, a tall, skinny, bully of Native American descent, and the bully's lovely blond-haired twin-all fall off San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf, it's only the beginning. The trio will travel back to the time before the Great Flood, where they will be forced to conquer the demonic forces of King Airsod, his demon hordes, and his maniacal sidekick, Prince Reek. They will have to face all their worst fears about issues around loneliness, death, divorce, and growing up before they ultimately find their way home-as friends-having restored the world-and their perception of it-to one where choice and love for the Great Lord prevail.

5A Whale of an Adventure  Nov 11, 2008
By Johall "reader/writer"
Jofi: Star Seeker is a swift-moving allegorical adventure that sweeps three typical young teenagers, with the everyday angst all teens suffer, into a time-warped fantasy world of terror, suspense and transforming experiences.

Children will readily identify with this realistic trio. Pudgy 13-year-old Teddy and the twins, combative Linc and sensible Liz, are plucked from their present placid though somewhat troubled existence and plunged into one life and death situation after another along with the dedicated Jofi the Star Seeker bent on his spiritual mission. The book is replete with all the nitty-gritty exciting details kids relish.

It is a whale of a tale both children and adults can enjoy and profit from. My whole family is anxiously awaiting Book Two of Ellen McKinsey's Star Seeker Series.

5Excellent and Parents need not worry about the content  Oct 19, 2008
By Cynthia R. Fellows
A fast paced book that will keep not only a child but an adult glued to the adventures of three 13 year olds as they travel through time and different worlds. The books are based on a fantasy world that cleaverly uses symbols taken from christianity in a way that a child will not necessarily recognize their significance and think that they are only characters or events in the fantasy adventure. The book emphasises good against evil and hope even in the most desperate situations. I highly recommend it to any parent who is looking for literature that their child will love to read and be confortable in knowing that Jofi Star Seeker will have a positive influence on their child.

5Jofi: a Star of a Book  Sep 23, 2010
By Pandorasecho "Dixie"
Jofi: Star seeker is a fantasy for children in the middle grades and higher. Adults will enjoy the twists and turns of this fast paced adventure as well. The three teenagers in the story are real and interesting and their adventure is out of this world. Although the adventure originates in the traditions of the Jewish and Christian faith, the story is a surprisingly fun story for anyone who likes a good fantasy. There is a complexity to the story which may need an adult to interact with a younger reader as questions come up, but nothing that a parent would object to their child hearing.

5A Whale of a Fish Story  Jan 16, 2009
By Paula A. Molina
This highly imaginative fantasy tale of a big fish and the three teenagers who love him, is packed with adventure, suspense and vivid characterization. Originally intended for the tween to early teen audience, it also offers the adult reader a glimpse into the mysterious world between make-belief and reality that so greatly appeals to young readers. This book does not imitate Harry Potter or other current magic-
laden stories, but rather uses the realm of fantasy to unveil hidden truths about real life and the challenges of overcoming life's obstacles.
A great first book of a series.

5Great Fantasy/Adventure  Jan 11, 2009
By Helen O. Dixon
Jofi is an exciting, fast paced fantasy/adventure with a compelling difference between good and evil. It teaches we have choices to make and sometimes we stumble but there is help and unmeasurable love, if we choose to accept good over evil. A must to read and reread to get the full impact.
