Karate-Do: Traditional Training For All Styles

Karate-Do evolved as a martial art in Okinawa, where it was nurtured by centuries of Okinawan culture and innovation. What inspired the ancient masters to develop these martial techniques and practices was the human instinct for self-preservation, not a desire for entertainment or sporting competition. Traditional karate-do should be practiced with this in mind. Here you will find a complete personal training handbook to supplement training in any karate-do system or other martial art style. Topics covered include: o Diet and Nutrition o Focused Training o Balanced Training o A Survey of the Budo Martial Arts o Strategy and Tactics o Building Physical Attributes o The Use and Application of Zen in the Martial Arts o Special Lessons Passed on to the Authors by Their Late Sensei, Gene Orr, Kyoshi, 7th Dan The authors have systematically organized their experiences and research into easily digestible segments and have included numerous photographs throughout the text.

5Must read for any traditional karateka  Oct 13, 2007
By M. Jaggars
I just recieved my copy of this book, and after reading just the first 4 chapters, I can already tell that it will be a great asset to my training. Just the introduction and chapter one, reveal the great insight of the authors. Just the philisophical view points alone are worth the price of the book. I highly recommend it, and I can already tell I'll have to buy another copy after this one falls apart from being read over and over. Again, highly recommended.
