KidLead: Growing Great Leaders

KidLead is the landmark book for developing the leadership potential in children and youth. It provides numerous practical ideas for parents, teachers, coaches and children’s workers, to identify leadership aptitude and train young leaders at home, school and in the community. KidLead is based on the training programs designed by KidLead, a non-profit educational organization that certifies trainers to use its materials. KidLead shows you why it is essential to begin leadership development early, if we are to have effective, ethical leaders in our world. By doing this, we also provide leaders with a 10-20 year head start on their colleagues. A free, online leadership aptitude assessment is described. The book includes interviews from leadership experts such as John Maxwell, Stephen Covey, Ken Blanchard, Laurie Beth Jones, Ken Foreman, and John Kotter.

5No reason to wait now  Jul 23, 2009
By T. Miller
Being a teacher I have never understood why more leadership techniques are not implemented in the classroom. There is no reason to wait until the kids are in high school to start "teaching" leadership. I am so excited that someone finally is suggesting targeting youth and leadership skills in the same sentence. It has always been said that leaders aren't molded until they are older...with this book we are now allowed to coach younger kids to become leaders at a younger age. I am impressed! I cannot wait for the future leaders and to see these skills coming from younger kids. If we empower our youth, we may actually have stronger leaders who are true leaders.

Great book on an issue that needs attention now, more than ever. I wish these ideas had been around 30 years ago.

5Cutting Edge Leadership Training  Jul 25, 2009
By Denise McBride
A must read for parents, teachers, coaches, leaders and anyone who works with kids and youth. Today more than ever before, we are realizing a need for effective and ethical leadership. Until now this much needed training was only available to adults through executive and graduate level education. Dr. Nelson's research in the area of leadership development in preteens and youth is cutting edge. The design of the teaching methods and concepts in the LeadNow curricula far exceeds any leadership training program on the market today.

This landmark book, KidLead, Growing Great Leaders, offers insight to identifying our leaders of tomorrow. It provides practical advice for initiating positive methods and techniques to bring out the leadership ability in KidLeaders and helps us to identify those areas where we as adults may have missed the mark in helping our kids reach their full leadership potential. It provides ideas on how kids can begin leading now.

If we are going to change our world we have to start with our kids. If you want to help make a difference, begin by reading this book.

5Exceptional!  Aug 28, 2009
By Michelle Horstmeyer
KidLead offers a foundation and incorporates amazing strategies to help develop leadership in our youth. It shows parents, church leaders, and teachers how to recognize those with leadership abilities and to encourage that development. Society tends to "squash" our young leaders by not giving enough value to their thoughts and ideas. KidLead will provide the tools to grow leaders and should be utilized by anyone who wants to make a difference in the lives of children.
