Terrible! Jan 23, 2012
By HCC I decided to order this book because of the mostly excellent reviews. I thought the one person who gave it such a bad review was probably just exaggerating or a bit too critical. Turns out they were right: it really is that bad! Definitely not worth the hefty pricetag for something that looks like it was put together by an 8 year old kid for a school assignment. Don't waste your money on this!!
Kids Around The World: South Africa
PS: I am a South African native and a lot of the info in this book is either outdated (for example the map of the nine provinces - some of the names are different now from what they are in the book) or just simply incorrect ("This is the Castle of Good Hope", next to a picture of the Cape Town City Hall building!?) to name but a few!! And they charge $12.99 for that - what a rip-off!!!
GREAT books, make an awesome gift! Sep 03, 2010
By S.D.Bessick As a South African native, I was impressed by the content of the book. While not overwhelming, it is informative and fun - the author(s) give mention to South African terms, languages, food, and culture. I've purchased a few copies since I first discovered the book and give it as birthday/holiday gifts - both the parents and children enjoy learning about the South African culture and kids are especially impressed that they can speak "South African" :)
Great for ex-pat South Africans May 18, 2010

This little book is special to share with my son who was not born in South Africa. I can share cultural details with the use of this book.

Cheap Jul 20, 2011
By Ellen I was so disappointed with this book. It seemed to have good reviews, but when getting it, it was just terrible. This looks like something someone threw together on powerpoint and printed out. Poor graphics and little aesthetic to the design. I think this book is pretty much worthless. Do not waste your money. Gets one star because I couldn't leave the category blank.
