A Huge Disappointment Dec 13, 2009
By John P. Scanlon I grew up on the south side of Chicago in the 50's, and my father worked in the Dodge plant on the south side which is the setting for this novel, so I was looking forward to reading this story about building engines for the B-29 bomber in WWll. The book is incoherent trying to blend the story of the bomber factory and the story of the Tucker auto plant which used the same facility after WWII. The dialogue is awful and the story is filled with meaningless facts which make the plot simplistic. There are typos and misspellings. I would not recommend this book.
A fascinating book Dec 31, 2009
By Christopher Nybo I enjoyed this book immensely. It had some fascinating information that I never knew before. I highly recommend the purchase.

I found the book fascinating. I will admit I read it twice. As a native of the south side myself, I had heard about this facility, but I knew little else. I saw the article in the Sun Times which piqued my curiousity. The blending of fiction could be a little confusing to some, but the shear historical value makes this a great read. I'm going to read it again over the holidays. It's a Chicago story which are always interesting. I recommend it highly.
