Ms.Klara's dedication, determination and a postive attitude towards life was really great.I enjoyed reading it.Overall,it's a great work!!
What an Incredible Journey, Buda-Pest to Rio Apr 14, 2009 This is a book that I could not put down once I started on that "Incredible Journey from BudaPest to Rio " wonderfully told of a young girl growing up in Hungary(Bihari Family)in very difficult and trying times, and growing to maturity in a safe haven in Brazil. The shear Faith and Courage at the time is to be admired and a beacon to many looking for inspiration.
Klara's daughter Margarida puts her Memoir in sufficent detail and clarity to keep the reader entranced with Klara's experiences and achievements as actress, performer and acrobatic dancer. Wow ! I happen to know them both--what loving people!
Poignant Story - Read it in 1 sitting Apr 03, 2009 Wonderful, colorful family story at a time in history of particular interest to me. The triumphs and tragedies are told in a wonderful way. It's a wonderful story of a life lead fully and is told lovingly by Clara through her daughter, Margarida. The photos are wonderful. I very much enjoyed this book.
What a Story! Mar 22, 2009 What a story! What a life Klara Bihari has had. Born at the end of World War I in Budapest, Hungary, she was one of the youngest in a large, Jewish family which, while not well-off materially, abounded in love, loyalty and talent. Her childhood was beset with tragedy which would be difficult for anyone to overcome. But Klara was never a quitter. Through it all, Klara pursued a successful acting career, starting at age three, which may have helped save her from giving in to what must have seemed to be insurmountable odds. Although she was performing all over Europe in the 1930's (even for Nazi SS dignitaries), it became evident that she should leave. In 1940, after a harrowing odyssey, she joined her father and brothers in Brazil. What shines through this memoir is Klara's determination, her optimism, her deeply felt love of family and her lifelong interest in new places and new faces. Now in her 89th year, Klara's advice to the rest of us? Don't be afraid to live.
A Beautiful Story, A Human Story Mar 13, 2009 What an amazing family, amazing story and amazing life. I cheered for their triumphs and cried through their setbacks and never stopped turning pages until the story was done. "Klara, Linuka, Claire: A Memoir" is a story of the love and dedication of a family and the crushing effect politics and government can have on personal freedoms and artistic expression. In an ironic twist, it is the art of Klara that rescues her and her family from starvation and certain annihilation. It is truly a story of survival and triumph. Buy the book, read the book, and feel grateful the world has families such as this.
