Knife Music Apr 07, 2009
By T. Molakides As a retired police detective, I am probably more critical than most when it comes to mystery novels. I found Knife Music's storyline not only riveting but technically correct. Knife Music was fast paced and difficult to put down. I highly recommend it.

Impossible to put down ... consider yourself warned! Nov 23, 2008
By D. Chugh I could not put this book down! The suspense was killing me ... and, I really was rooting for several of the characters, despite the fact that they were adversaries! They were so believable, and so human, and so admirable yet flawed. The book made me think, and at the same time, totally swept me away into that wonderful place that only books can create where you aren't thinking at all. Now, I feel the need to re-read the book to put it all together, or at least debrief with someone else who has read the book. Definitely a book I highly recommend, and one I plan to include in several Christmas presents!

Terrific Thriller that Keeps You Turning the Pages Oct 06, 2008
By Seth Gross David Carnoy's "Knife Music" skillfully cuts open the life of a privileged surgeon and lays bare an intriguing mystery of deceit, anxiety, and betrayal. Dr. Ted Cogan's efforts to clear his name and come to terms with his darker nature, intercut with Detective Hank Madden's obsessive efforts to nail Cogan at any cost, reminded me of a great Hitchcockian thriller, on par with "Strangers on a Train" or "Rope."
Even though the novel is very well-paced, Carnoy doesn't skimp on character. Cogan, Madden, and Kristen (who comes to life through her chilling diary entries) all feel real. We care about their story because we see ourselves in them. Like Harlan Coben, who writes similar domestic thrillers, Carnoy is very adept at servicing character while not short-changing storytelling.
I highly recommend "Knife Music" for anyone who likes a great thriller that is also well-written. Carnoy's sharp prose and taut structure create a fast, compelling read that keeps you turning pages until the shocking ending. And the final twist packs a wallop that will remind readers of "Presumed Innocent,"except "Knife Music" may even cut deeper than that Scott Turow classic.

"Mystery Reader"
This is a fantastic read and a gift to thriller readers everywhere. It is well written, fast paced and will have you totally surprised by the ending. Carnoy is a remarkable writer who manages to weave the story together in a way that will have you hoping for more time to keep reading. He has a gift for telling a truly suspenseful story with great thought and intelligence.

I can't believe this is the David Carnoy's 's first book. Oct 08, 2010
By RichP This is a really good book--I couldn't put it down and had to finish it at work!
I found his style very easy to read. The conversations were handled very well--so many authors just can't do it right. I loved all the local references. Plot was great. Good character development and descriptions--again something most authors just don't get right.
I can't wait for David Carnoy's next book.
