Kolaimni: Silver Anniversary Addition Handbook One

Mechi Garza is a Native American Elder and Medicine Woman. She is also a writer, healer and master teacher with clients from all over the United States as well as Italy , Denmark , Mexico and Iceland . Twenty years ago she founded the energy healing technique, called Kolaimni, and has written two text books on the subject both of which have been translated into Portuguese and Swedish. She has also written eleven other books which have been published by Bantam, Simon Schuster, Dell, and Julian Messner. For eighteen years Mechi lived in Mexico where she wrote a serial drama, which was made into a feature film. When she and her family came back to the United States she taught Writing for Publication at the University of Charleston and did social work for the State of West Virginia. She also wrote Chicanos, a text book for Middle School students. In 2001, Cook Productions made a documentary of her life called Metis. It told the story of her life and how she coped with two bloods, both Native American and white. A year after it was produced Metis won the Ann Rice award in New Orleans which had been the setting for much of the movie. Grandmother Mechi as she is lovingly called, now lives in Tampa, Florida where she is active with the Wolf's Heart Lodge, a Native American drumming and meditation circle. Twice a year she goes back to West Virginia where she gives Workshops on Kolaimni Energy Healing, Metaphysical matters and Native American Traditions. She also lectures and teaches in Columbus , Cleveland , Cincinnati and Canton , Ohio , and each summer she goes to New York to teach at the International Women's Writing Guild. In Tampa she has a small self-publishing company, BLUE RAVEN BOOKS. So far she has published Cherokee Ways , The Red Elephant and Astral Travel for Earth Bound People. Mechi is available for lectures, workshops and teaching sessions, on Kolaimni energy healing, Native American Traditions, and writing. Mechi teaches Kolaimni at various locations across the country and to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Her students have included physicians, nurses, engineers, attorneys, authors, craftspeople, artists, teachers, homemakers, and many more.

5Fabulous for self-healing  Jun 09, 2011
By Linda Hedquist
A woman I met at a party who had been trained by Mechi told me about this book. I am so glad I purchased it! The healing method it offers is both simple and very profound. As other reviewers have noted, it is extremely well written. It is a small book that gets right to the point. So you don't have to read a lot of theory. The instructions, written from the heart as well as the mind, are clear and easy to understand. One of the delights is that all of the procedures offered can be done with the person you are helping physically present or at a distance. And everything you are taught to do for another, you are encouraged to do for yourself. In fact, practicing on yourself is recommended. And Mechi gives instructions that make that quite easy.

I've had this book for a week now. Working on myself every day I've found that it increases the mind/body/spirit connection to a remarkable degree. Self-treatments are something I look forward to because they are enjoyable and effective. Concrete results so far include improved digestion, the removal of a nagging glitch in my spine, and the loss of 6 pounds of weight that I didn't need.

I did do one in-person treatment on my husband and a "simple blessing" for a friend and found that these instructions definitely work. However, I want to spend more time practicing on myself and really owning the material that way before working more on others.

5Great!  Feb 13, 2008
By C. Llorens
I have met, attended classes, and been healed by Mechi. She is a sweet soul you never forget. She healed me when I was contemplating surgery and I have recently been "called" to learn this healing method. I am a Reiki Master and have found Kolaimni to be a gentler method of healing.

5Kolaimni Easy to Understand  Sep 26, 2001

The book is well written and diagrams help you visualize the points the author is making. I plan to use this as a reference book for my work in healing.

4Gentle, but powerful.  Jan 22, 2012
By Jibrael
Reiki is the form of energy healing that is most well-known in contemporary metaphysics, but Kolaimni deserves to be known as well.

It is gentle, hands-free, and deeply calming. But it has surprising power. While Reiki energy to me is very "hot," Kolaimni is very "cool." But the fact that it is meant to be offered free of charge, and is so quiet... don't let that deceive you.

This text is the introductory work, usually given or available at Kolaimni Level One classes. It covers the basics, and if you have some metaphysical experience you can pick it up and get started right away. However, if you're new to energy healing, then I recommend getting in touch with a Kolaimni teacher first. At least that's what worked for me.

If I was reviewing the discipline itself, it would be 5 stars, obviously. :)

I continue to be amazed how unknown Mechi is. I trust, though, that this powerful healing will reach wherever it is most needed. <3
