Intriguing Fantasy Dec 16, 2009

Kravorctiva: Mistress of Chaos by David E. Daigle is not the type of book I normally read but I read it to try a different type of story to keep me entertained. It took me a little longer to read this book due to the written format using words that are not used in this day and age. The author does provide a glossary to given explaination to this unusual words and sayings. This is a well written book. This fantasy is set in mysterious places and it did keep me entertained.
This is one book in a series of stories so if you like this type of book you will definately like this book. It has the feel of the Lord of the Rings but has it's own story line. If you like books about good vs evil and want to be taken into a fantasy land, please read this book. You will probably want to read the others by the same author.
Fantasy and mistress of chaos Dec 16, 2009

Usually, this is not my type of book, but I have to say that I was intrigued by it. One of my friends had mentioned hearing about it and hearing good things - and, for some reason, I am a fan of books with settings in dark and mysterious places and this book fits the bill perfectly.
This book is also extremely timely. I have never seen a better time to write and publish a fantasy book that basically has the feel of a Lord of the Rings, but delivers its own entirely different storyline. This book has it all, mysterious characters seeking mysterious things - not of this universe, it also features the mystical and creepy dragons - but what really sets it apart, in my opinion, is the absolutely riveting dark, dreamy and at times, dreary setting. There is a feel of mystical to this novel that added that extra flavor.
It took me some time to get use to novel's own "internal" language, but once I got through that, I really got into this book.
If you like mystical and dark, this is the book for you.
The Epic Adventure Continues.... Dec 16, 2009
By G. Reba "Kravorctiva: Mistress of Chaos", Book II in The Frontmire Histories, author David E. Daigle delivers a solid addition to a growing series. Packing a similar punch as that of the first book (which is good by the way), there is one thing that stands out first and foremost in his writing....the style. Now grant it, it is not uncommon for authors to introduce their own languages and such into their books; it is their creation after all. Daigle, however, chooses to write in the Elven tongue. We're not just talking about proper English here; he applies it to the full form of the book, so while some may at first glance believe there is be a type...fear not! It is all planned and in good fun! To those not acquainted with this style, think Lord of the Rings with a handy "glossary" of words to help you along the way. In choosing this form, he grants the reader a boarding pass to an adventure that will pull you in from start to finish.
So if you're ready for a new adventure with characters of old, and your chosen company in times of need run the gambit of Dwares, Elves, and Trolls....strap on your (imaginary) sword and prepare to do battle, for something evil has been released and needs to be sent back from whence it came....
