Making sense out of English spelling Mar 13, 2010
By C. Curtis This is the most amazing book. It turns out that consonants have rules too. For instance, my students enjoyed reading that the letter "k" is not allowed in long words. A fifth grader said, "I always got scared when I heard this sound because I didn't know if I should spell it with a "k" or "c" or "ch." Now, that I know that the "k" is not allowed in long words, spelling is easy now. I like that the "ch" which sounds like a "k" is only in 70 words and here they are on one page in this book. I can memorize these 70 words and never be scared of hearing the sound of "k" again." Thank you Camilia Sadik for telling people that English makes sense.
