Infectious Pleasure, Inspiring Stories May 03, 2009
By Jeremy Smith What shines most strongly in Lesser-Known Giants is author Charles Aulino. With very few exceptions, he avoid the authorial 'I.' Nonetheless his choice of subject and manner of description reveal what he values and admires, particularly those who fight against bigotry--be it based in ethnicity, religion, race, gender, class, handicap, or country--and speak truth to power through their manifold successes. Aulino likes the little guy (or gal), and the champion of the little guy. These are his giants and his pleasure in their rise is as infectious as his stories are inspiring.
