Lessons from the Trenches: A Woman's Guide to Winning the Corporate Game

If you're a professional woman who wants to get to the next level in your career, Lessons from the Trenches is the book you need. With clear, simple examples and illustrative stories from women who are making a real difference in corporate America, Erin Wolf explains why hard work is almost never enough to vault women into the executive suite. The most successful women have vision, guts, and the ability to make a male-dominated culture work in their favor. A 20-year veteran of the country's most prestigious financial services and consulting firms, Erin shows you how to crack the good old boy code and use that knowledge to your advantage, without ever having to become one of the guys. Her Lucky Seven Rules provide a road map to principled, ethical success. Frank and honest about her own journey, Erin will become your trusted guide as you make your way into, through-and perhaps even out of-the corporate jungle.

Erin Wolf's "lessons" are applicable and achievable. The book is a great read with anecdotes from women spanning many professions to include a Brigadier General. No matter what your career, you are certain to relate to these true stories and rethink how you approach your future.

5Why reinvent the wheel when Erin can drive us to success?!  May 04, 2009
By Nikki J. Mercer
Ms. Wolf shares lessons from her fast track career as a partner in America's leading consulting firms as well as experiences in her clients' boardrooms and executive suites. Her personal insights are reinforced by several examples from other female executives in this very enjoyable 'how to guide' about maneuvering through the male dominated business world without losing one's femininity, principles or dreams.

Wolf makes the journey enjoyable and positive and reminds us that ambition, long hours and hard work are simply not enough. We also need to understand the cultural, social and unwritten rules that men have known since they walked on their first sports field at a very young age.

Wolf shares effective secrets and lessons on how to navigate, thrive and succeed in what is still a male dominated business world.

5Erin gets it  Apr 28, 2009
By Gretchen Hirsch
It's not about sex. It's about ability. But women still get left behind. Erin Wolf's book shows women how to close the gap, with style and intelligence. Her pedigree is impeccable, and she has great advice for women who still want to climb. Highly recommended!

5a practical and enjoyable read  Apr 28, 2009
By Llewellyn P. Haden "Llew Haden"
I have been in the workforce a pretty good while and what Ms. Wolf says is true. There are ways to play the game and change the rules at the same time. The best part is that there are no losers - men, women and companies prosper from a workplace that selects the best people and ideas regardless of society's prejudices.

5Kudos to Erin Wolf  Jul 13, 2009
By Peter Herb "retired"
Ms. Wolf has produced a handbook for women in business that I wish I had read years ago when I was an employer. As the male head of a medium sized office (fewer than 30 employees), the insights in this book would have been helpful to me in dealing with my female associates. This is a book for businessmen and well as for businesswomen. Well done, Ms. Wolf!
