A Beautiful Memoir Jun 16, 2010
By Karen L. Brooke I grew up as a child in the SE Lowveld area of Zimbabwe and lived there for many years. I was well acquainted with the Housers and the mission they lived on.
Mr. Houser has a rare and intimate knowledge of this part of Africa. I am in awe of his fluent knowledge of not only the tribal language dialects in this area but also the customs and ways of the people that he writes about with such humor, love and affection. It is clear to anyone reading these memoirs that the Housers were devoted people who cared deeply for the people here they had come to know and understand so well.
It is my opinion that anyone who is interested in this part of the world, or if they are going to be spending any length of time in Zimbabwe would do well to read this book first.
A must-read for anyone interested in Africa missions! Mar 10, 2009
By Danny Rorabaugh This autobiography is filled with wonderful stories from the life of a wonderful man. If you are interesting in missions in Africa, the Free Methodist church or linguistics, you should enjoy this! And if you get a chance to stop by the senior community in Warm Beach, Washington, you can meet the man himself.
Biograph of a man who wanted to please God in his life. Aug 24, 2007
By Darlene Buchanan This story is very interesting, especially since I met the author, who lives in a retirement community with my 94 year old mother now. His wit and humor and his desire to serve the Lord in his life make it a fun and wonderful book to read. I would highly recommend. God gets the glory for this man's accomplishments and it is refreshing.
