upclose & personal Jan 28, 2010
By S. Murphy Does living with God seem like a dreary business? Does prayer seem too lofty for a life full of the world around us, never mind the lack of time? This compelling, upclose & personal read about Sister Josephine's life indicated otherwise to me. I laughed and cried as I witnessed her life, eves dropping on her prayers, her body surfing, and her stay with punk rockers in her embrace of God's wonders. Her life-journey and her work of bringing joy and love to neglected and marginalized Catholics chronicle a different perspective on living with and loving God. She makes it look easy, fun, and irresistible.

A must read! Mar 05, 2010
By Jane Smith This is a poignant story of a friend helping a friend who was experiencing a devastating separation in her life. After seeing the heartache and sorrow of her friend, Jo Lamia, Sr. Josephine Stewart knew in her heart that there were more people like Jo who needed the love and support of a group and so began the Beginning Experience.
For me, the underlying message is loving enough and opening your heart so you hear and recognize people in pain and giving all of your help and love to see them through the bad times and gently move them toward acceptance and letting go.
This is the story of Sr. Josephine's life and how the lessons she learned changed the lives of thousands of people.
Unlike so many memoirs, this is an honest, forthright and sincere account of a person of faith who found her calling and in so doing, made a difference. After reading the book, I came to an understanding of being an active participant in the global community.
Socrates said "the unexamined life is not worth living". Sr. Josephine not only examined every facet of her life but she lived it well and shared it with all of us. This book is a treasure and a must read.

Great Book! Mar 04, 2010
By C. Rohde This is a captivating book, especially if you have experienced the loss of a spouse to death or divorce and were fortunate enough to find a Beginning Experience weekend to help you through your grief!
I found Beginning Experience four years after my divorce and the weekend "saved my life" and was a turning point in my life! I shall forever be grateful to Sister Josephine and Jo Lamia for allowing God to work through them to bring this program to hurting people all over the world. It was fascinating to learn how Sister Josephine's life experiences lead her to Beginning Experience. This is truly an inspirational book!

Letting Go: The Way into Abundance Feb 28, 2010
By J. C. Henderson Josephine Stewart has written an amazing account of a life of letting go. She clearly demonstrates the power of moving from one phase of life to another, and experiencing the grief that comes with that process, and also experiencing the power of the healing process. Her book is compelling in its reading. What an wonderful joyfilled life she has had. A life most would not have believed possible for someone who entered the convent. She, through Jo Lamia, found her purpose as she touched the lives of thousands of hurting people throughout the world. Her openness and willingness to go to them has had a profound healing effect no only on the people her work touched, also on the people in extended families and communities which benefited from the healing. A remarkable life and a remarkable read. Letting Go: The Way into Abundance: The Personal Story of the Founder of the Beginning Experience
