Life After Affbeck

Couples, Alice and Arthur, Harold and Myrtle, reside in Affbeck, an isolated town on the coast of Suffolk engrossed in slander, snobbery, golf, and the bridge club. Drawn to the town by guilt, ambition and greed come an ex-convict, a pop singer, and the dreamer of a big scheme. Also sweeping into town comes TV celebrity Bruno Foxfar to film a story about witches. A rare kind of amber with strange powers is found on the beach there. On a cliff in Norfolk stands Egmont House, ancestral home of Cranley St John Pole, wedded to Imogen who regularly deserts him. A mysterious woman reads Cranley’s palm, sells him amber and sets destiny in motion. The frightful climax comes on the feast of Beltane at the obelisk where a young witch was burned. The crime is re-enacted for television. Old sin is purged and the innocent rewarded.
