By Lexi LuLu I just finished this book and found it quite entertaining. Very well written and great attention to detail.
A Beautiful Journey Sep 17, 2009
By Kristen Diana Robbins masterfully weaves ambiguity into her story. She allows each reader the opportunity to define their interpretation of each character's beauty. A beautiful story about the journey of one's quest to find love and passion. I was one of the first people to read this book and could hardly put it down with each chapter's unexpected twists and turns.
Liliana Is A Journey of Wonderful Characters and Love Jul 02, 2009
By Lollie Ortiz Diana Robbins has created an intriguing story of unconditional love bound by a destiny that sets in motion romantic passion as it was meant to be written. I also found her diverse characters to be both entertaining and descriptively charming along with equal uplifting drama to match. It deserves a sequel.
A fresh approach to the historical romance Jun 24, 2009
By Gail Henrickson I just read a VERY interesting book called "Liliana" by Diana Robbins, a compelling story about a courageous woman in the last decade of the 1800s. Without giving away too much of the storyline, the spirited heroine bucks the constricting traditions of her time -- marriage, employment, sexual identity -- and has a bold adventure journeying from straight-laced Boston to beautiful Hawaii. I found myself unwilling to put the book down, for each chapter unfolded with interesting (and often surprising!) developments. I especially liked the memorable characters and the historical settings which are both intriguing and believable. Woven into an imaginative plot are some rather heavy scenes, which are lightened by quirky humor and the strength of the human spirit.
I've never read a book quite like "Liliana" -- a historical romance with a definite twist, laced with the author's personal philosophy about the rights and plights of women from another era (which sheds a great deal of light on our own times). Ultimately, it is a touching story about the true nature of love and friendship. I recommend this as an enjoyable read for anyone interested in well-researched historical fiction, and the struggles of people merely wishing to be free to love someone of their choosing.
A lovely journey. Jun 23, 2009
By Zackary Lyons Liliana is an ambitious novel from a Ms. Robbins, who artfully pieces together scenes that draw you in and hold your attention.
The full tale is comprised of two distinct halves. The first half is a journey of self-discovery and identity, and the second is an adventure to protect and uplift those discoveries. The story had a wide array of interesting characters who inspire emotion and reaction. The novel also has a strong undercurrent of gracious living and it lingers with you like aromatic Pacific flora.
