Change your brain Sep 02, 2009 Dr. Sood shows how 2500 years of knowledge (mindfulness training) is now being validated by neuroscience. This is an evidence based and scientific approach to what has been the arena of mystics and spiritualists. The good news is that his technique is accessible, affordable and appropriate for all.
Probably no effort will benefit you more in your life.
A Mind Altering Miracle for Modern Humanity Aug 10, 2009 At some point it would be my hope to give a video review, but it is equally important for me to provide a written review. Only yesterday I emailed Dr. Sood the following comment, "We are just humble and imperfect reflectors of His luminosity....trying to scale the milestones He left for us."
"Indeed, but what you are reflecting enlightens all humanity far beyond abstractions to a direct encounter with the instrument of our brain an body. One wonders why that seeming obvious connection has not been made long before now."
My further comment was as follows:
If you would allow me Amit, I would like to share two attached documents to get your perspective, i.e., when you have the time to read them. Your research on brain function explains, it seems to me, the limbic loop and lock people who suffered from the kind of mind and brain altering dehumanization Africans experienced. The generational psyclogical effects of domestication is different from the psychological affects of extermination -- a point I have made to my Jewish colleagues related to their holocaust. A worth while future discussion.
My mother's parents took flight from the South because of the threat of lynching of her brothers who were accused of "long distant rape of a white women." Though I grew up in Columbus Ohio where racism was not as overt, my mother and her family manifested all of the symptoms of hyper vigilant fear, prejudicial, preferential, and judgmental interpretation of the world that, I am sure, engaged the limbic center and disengaged the cortical center of the brain -- as the exhibits attached intended for generations to come.
I can only imagine what physical changes were made to our amygdala and our pre-frontal cortex. The extent to which many African Americans live in psychological time rather than chronological time is unconsciously pathological. As you let us know this is true for many oppressed people as well as abused persons. As a spiritual counselor of people of all races and nationalities I see it all the time. Attention defict is chronic, and training our attention to the wonderful novelty of the present is critical. When I look at the little amygdala and the nut size prostate I imagine similarities. Perhaps the latter is an expression of the former.
Enough said. Question: "Is it possible that the Willie Lynch type indoctrinations reinforced by systematic mind and brain altering techniques of torture for the purpose of economic domestication, as with the breaking and breeding of horses, engage the limbic centers and disengaged the cortical centers of any people or person subject to such dehumanization? And, is does reversal analysis shed light on what it will take to train the attention." I discuss this phenomenon in my book: The African American Revolt of the spirit, which iss available on Amazon.
This is a lenghty analysis, however it suggest the far reaching implcations of Dr. Soods' enlightening research.

Log on to a better life! Jun 30, 2009 Log On: Two Steps to Mindful Awareness
Dr Sood has written one of the best books on mind-body medicine ever. In simple, short chapters, he explains how stress affects our health using the latest medical research and what we can do about it. As he says, we are all guilty of overthinking but it is mostly about the past or the future which is where all our anxieties come from. We spend little time in the present where there is little to be anxious about. This is MINDFULNESS and we will not control our thinking without training our minds. For anyone who feels anxious, stressed, or worried and wants a way to manage theses feelings without medication or go through therapy, this book is mandatory. Great book!

Thank you Dr. Sood. Jun 28, 2009 All I can say is thank you Dr. Sood. This book was given to me and I am not only grateful to Dr. Sood but to the giver. It is a book I will buy for others, if I know them well enough to feel they would be interested. The first book on mindfulness I have felt I could put into practice.

Exactly what the world needs!!! May 28, 2009 Dr. Sood has shown some astounding scientific information that demonstrates the positive effects of meditation. He also strips out the dogmatic things that can sometimes be associated with meditation and lays it out in a practical, real-world, method that anyone can easily use.
I personally saw Dr. Sood speak about his work and was so excited to see the medical and scientific community embracing and endorsing meditation as a holistic approach to improving ones life. GREAT BOOK!!!!
