Exactly what the world needs!!! May 28, 2009

Dr. Sood has shown some astounding scientific information that demonstrates the positive effects of meditation. He also strips out the dogmatic things that can sometimes be associated with meditation and lays it out in a practical, real-world, method that anyone can easily use.
I personally saw Dr. Sood speak about his work and was so excited to see the medical and scientific community embracing and endorsing meditation as a holistic approach to improving ones life. GREAT BOOK!!!!

Log on to a better life! Jun 30, 2009
By Larry R. Bergstrom Log On: Two Steps to Mindful Awareness
Dr Sood has written one of the best books on mind-body medicine ever. In simple, short chapters, he explains how stress affects our health using the latest medical research and what we can do about it. As he says, we are all guilty of overthinking but it is mostly about the past or the future which is where all our anxieties come from. We spend little time in the present where there is little to be anxious about. This is MINDFULNESS and we will not control our thinking without training our minds. For anyone who feels anxious, stressed, or worried and wants a way to manage theses feelings without medication or go through therapy, this book is mandatory. Great book!

All I can say is thank you Dr. Sood. This book was given to me and I am not only grateful to Dr. Sood but to the giver. It is a book I will buy for others, if I know them well enough to feel they would be interested. The first book on mindfulness I have felt I could put into practice.

Lead a More Healthful, Satisfying Life! Jan 30, 2010
By Ernest G. Barr I heard a presentation of Dr. Amit Sood, of the Mayo Clinic at Rochester, MN. then bought his book, "Log On: Two Steps to Mindful Awareness". It is a highly practical book that can be appreciated by professional and non-professional persons alike. The book was written for persons who "believe that the brilliant sun is somewhere in the sky, but the clouds presently seem too dense and and one is not sure how to look past them."
The reader will find maximum value by "being in dialogue" with the author through completion of the exercises presented. Dr. Sood suggests the book be approached with an open mind, since not all of the examples given will apply directly to every reader.
After some rather technical information about the brain and the mind early in the book, the author deals with some very practical issues such as living in the present moment, why and how to forgive, acceptance of unalterable situations. He discusses compassion and gives exercises to help the reader develop that characteristic. There is a section devoted to meaning in life and how to find one's "true meaning". Gratitude is emphasized and why it's practice is important. Finally Dr. Sood deals with meditation, faith, prayer and the divine. This is all done in a helpful, non-offensive manner.
The author makes liberal use of acronyms as an assist in remembering important elements. Shaded text that is somewhat technical is not considered essential to the nontechnical reader.
After reading and appreciating this book myself, I gave a copy to my grandson, a newly graduated psychologist, who is finding certain elements of the book applicable in his own practice.

By C. Olsen Log On is one of the best written books on how to live in peace and serenity, in the moment, and fully present to all that's around you. It explains the biological reasons we live
in the stressful ways that we do, without shame or guilt. It presents simple, effective methods to achieve living consciously. READ IT!!!!
