Helpful but poorly written Jul 15, 2010

For those who have been shocked by learning of a significant other's sexually addictive behavior, this book contains some helpful information, especially in the final chapter on cybersex. Wading through it is a bit tough, though, because it very poorly written and apparently was published without any editing. Codependency is narrowly defined and explored, and thus the portions on regarding it will apply to some but not all readers. So will the author's statement that finding out about her husband's first affair was not so hard.
Great book for spouses and/or partners of sex addicts !! Aug 03, 2010
By Sabrina Shane As a sex addiction therapist and a coaddict/codependent to a sex addict, I was thrilled to see that this author added a new chapter on cybersex addiction in this revised edition of Love, Infidelity, and Sexual Addiction. I have read the original version multiple times, as it was the first book I read after discovering my own husband's sex and love addiction. The author, Christine Adams, took up the challenge to write on this difficult, complex subject effectively communicating the foundation of a not easily understood and very unwelcome, shame based disease. Due to the recent explosion of cybersex addiction and the trends reflecting a continued growth in the numbers of those afflicted with the disease, it is not surprising that Ms. Adams has chosen to increase the effectiveness of her already well received book by adding the new chapter. After reading the cybersex chapter, I was very pleased with the quality content and effective delivery of her writing.
Although the numbers of those afflicted with sex addiction, will continue to increase, their spouses, partners, and the addicts themselves will have quality, very digestible, information available to them through books like this.
I have already referred this revised edition to clients, family, and friends. It is especially helpful for those being introduced to sex addiction and cybersex addiction for the first time. A great resource!
