4Cute Valentines Kids Book  Mar 18, 2008
By Daniel McKinnon "Dan"
'Lucy Makes a Valentine' is a cute edition for the bookshelf, perfect for reading when else?? Around February 14th of course! The author centers this book around common lead character Suzy the bunny who discovers that valentines come from the heart. With a little construction paper, scissors, glue and love, Suzy realizes how much fun it is to make valentines and what creativity can come from such creations.

My only qualm for this book and several others by Ms. Lee is the way the books end. It feels like the writing builds up well and there should be some final page that ends things with a period instead of ellipsis dots. I can't grade any of her books that she writes and draws herself negatively for that, it just seems like if more time was spent ending these solidly the books could be even better. As per usual the artwork is solid and the story is basic but gets the job done. Best for little kids, this is a successful Valentines piece of work.
