Prepare for battle! Dec 10, 2007
By Crystal Adkins
"Crystal's book reviews"
"...For my Lord, for my lover, for my brothers in the field. I will battle, I will bleed, I will never, never yield..."
A warrior sent to kill men, women, and children at the request of Her Majesty, High Colonel Aengus Lord Terae is summoned in the late of night to see the five High Mistresses of the Pentanet. He is told that the Queen will perish the following night, and upon receiving the crown, Princess Aethelania will become Queen. She will need a strong King by her side to reign over the lands, but Aengus has declined the ever so generous offer. He is in love with his concubine Porxiah, and refuses to break the pledge of love to his mate. The High Mistresses try to convince him to change his mind because Porxiah is barren, and he must continue his lineage of warriors.
Battling within himself, trying to decide what would be best for the country, should he become the King or be selfish and remain with the one woman that has always brought him peace even in the darkest of night? Someone had other plans for Aengus' concubine Porxiah; horrible plans that would leave her to wander the planes of time forever, a soul never to be freed. That will result in bringing out the worst in Aengus; blaming and killing 9 innocent men that Aengus proclaimed guilty will forever be heavy on his soul when he finds out the truth. Who murdered Porxiah in such cold blood and stole her very heart for revenge against the Butcher of Nadan? Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
John J. Savo's medieval fantasy novel : Lux War: Coronation is bedazzling. The characters are so animated, when the action started heating up toward the middle my heart began to pound with anticipation. It was gruesome in parts, while engaging in most of the rest. It took me a couple of chapters to really get interested in the novel, but once that was done, the story flew by. A pronunciation key is included and that was a huge help, I just wish it were in the beginning of the novel, because I did not discover it until the very end. Mr. Savo is a skilled storyteller and he is awarded 4 Hearts.

Very good read! Oct 26, 2007
By Huntress Reviews As the Queen's death approaches, the nobles of the land approach their most capable leader to claim the throne when the time comes. However, loyalty to his barren concubine forces Aegnus to refuse, angering and frustrating many who do not understand this. The steps that one insane woman whose love has turned to hatred will have far reaching effects for an entire land.
*** Politics, revenge, love, and hate are powerful themes that move this cauutionary tale through its dramatic paces. Often bleak, it is filled with dark imagery that contrasts with lyrical poetry. Though there is only one admirable person in this story, the reader learns quickly that hatred carries with it a tragic price. ***

What Mr Savo's Business Colleagues & Fellow Writers/Artists Have Said About LUX WAR Oct 21, 2007
By The Lux War Fan Club John Savo's command of language and mood makes it quite easy for readers to transport themselves into this fantastic place. And what a place it is! --Bob Eckstein, Artist/Illustrator/Writer
LUX WAR is a riveting tale from start to finish, whetting the reader's appetite for the fantastic and leaving him hungry for more. Mr. Savo has combined elements of political intrigue, suspense, romance, and out-of-this-world imagination to produce a meticulously constructed world of fiction as true to life for its readers as the realms of MiddleEarth and Earthsea. Invoking everything from Dune to the Bush Doctrine to Conan the Barbarian to the War on Terror, John Savo has produced a fantastical allegory for our troubled times, where phrases like NO BLOOD FOR OIL and REGIONAL HEGEMONY become the background buzz of the Zeitgeist. Mr. Savo has dared to examine the ultimate consequences of a corrupt regime more concerned with maintaining its own position rather than serving its constituents, and I, for one, can't wait to see how it'll all turn out. --Tom Salitsky, Writer/Musician
A terrific read; very engaging. The author creates a fully realized world with incredible attention to detail. The story clips along very nicely, with a cast of truly memorable characters, in a tale that only leaves you wanting more. --Professor Joseph Cetta, Playwright/Author
LUX WAR was captivating. I read the whole book in two sittings. The details are so vivid; reading it seems like you are watching a movie in your mind. --Laura G., Scranton
The author's wit and imagination in writing the book are second to none. The characters are described and portrayed so well one almost feels as if they are real. The suspense is consistent and packed with detail and attitude. John Savo is an excellent storyteller. --Marge V., Jessup, PA
