Delightful May 13, 2009 This book delighted the room of 2nd and 3rd graders that listened to Jeff Lucier read it! They really enjoyed learning about the differences in terminology used to describe the parts of the mini and were excited to find the hidden gadgets along with the boy as he and Madam raced the mini! What a fun story to share with children of all ages.
Fun story for all to enjoy! May 06, 2009 Students grades 1-6 and teachers sure enjoy the story of Madam and her Mini! It is a fun story to read and listen to. My students enjoyed the different terms used for parts of the Mini and of course, the exciting race. The story as well as the pictures keep you engaged the whole time. What colorful and lively pictures!
A delightful story to be enjoyed by children and adults Jun 30, 2008 My class of kindergarten children loved this story about a small car that could do mighty big things! It was a favorite during reading time and requested often. This is a story that sparks your imagination and reminds all of us of the importance of knowing that bigger isn't always better.
Madam's Mini Jun 08, 2008 Madam's Mini is a quaint story set in small town America. Jeff Lucier, the author, and his family live in a small town, in a neighborhood that includes his elderly parents. When he was working as a school counselor, I always parked next to his little '83 Mini. This story reminds me of the days when people knew and trusted their neighbors, children could visit with the neighbors and even go downtown with them. I like the twists in the story, creating a sub-theme that things are not always as they appear. Madam, a proper Englishwoman, doesn't put up with the impertinent male driver's obnoxious comments. She puts him in his place, using actions rather than words. This book will have special appeal to car lovers. As an elementary librarian, I recommend reading Madam's words with an English accent to really bring it alive for the listeners! It's nice to see a picture book with a unique story line.
