A delightful story to be enjoyed by children and adults Jun 30, 2008 My class of kindergarten children loved this story about a small car that could do mighty big things! It was a favorite during reading time and requested often. This is a story that sparks your imagination and reminds all of us of the importance of knowing that bigger isn't always better.
Madam's Mini Jun 08, 2008 Madam's Mini is a quaint story set in small town America. Jeff Lucier, the author, and his family live in a small town, in a neighborhood that includes his elderly parents. When he was working as a school counselor, I always parked next to his little '83 Mini. This story reminds me of the days when people knew and trusted their neighbors, children could visit with the neighbors and even go downtown with them. I like the twists in the story, creating a sub-theme that things are not always as they appear. Madam, a proper Englishwoman, doesn't put up with the impertinent male driver's obnoxious comments. She puts him in his place, using actions rather than words. This book will have special appeal to car lovers. As an elementary librarian, I recommend reading Madam's words with an English accent to really bring it alive for the listeners! It's nice to see a picture book with a unique story line.
What a fun book with great pictures!!! Apr 09, 2008 Being a Mini owner with a 4 year niece this was a must have book. I was so tickled when I got it and read it just by myself! I can't wait to share it with my niece I know she will love it. I really enjoyed the "secret" of Madam's Mini, you will too!
Very Enjoyable book Mar 20, 2008 I purchased this book for my 2 1/2 year old son. To be truthful, I also bought the book because I own a '65 Morris Mini Cooper S, and I thought it would be a good book to add to my collection.
I will need to order another one for myself as my son can not let 'Madam's Mini' out of his sight. He loves the beautifully drawn, vibrantly colored illustrations, and the story is very fun to read. It is his bedtime story of choice!
This is a book that I feel spans a wider age range than advertised. My son does not yet understand all of the story, but he loves pointing at the pictures of the Mini, which he recognizes as being the same as "Daddy's car". As he gets older, he will enjoy reading the story and understanding the positive message within about good things coming in small packages. Of course I equally enjoyed the book, with it's great illustrations, and Madam's humorous British sayings were entertaining. Therefore, I'd say the age range is at least 2 1/2 to 39 years!
Definitely worth a read.
Madam's Mini Mar 17, 2008 After receiving this book as a gift, my 3 year old daughter and I sat down to read it. We loved the storyline and found the pictures wonderful. My daughter followed along and asked questions, pointing out things in the illustrations. A thoroughly enjoyable book.
