Unbelievable/Very Inspiring Sep 11, 2009

I couldn't put the book down. It was hard to believe it was a true story. What an inspirational story both for mother and daughter. The accomplishments of both mother and daughter are beyond inspirational.
The book was well written and beautifully captures the love Ms Gayle had for her mother.
If you are debating reading this book this needs to be added to your Book List, you will not be sorry.

Inspiring! Incredible! WOW! Sep 07, 2011
By One Day Every American needs to read this book. Heck every person needs to read this book! If Mama Moon can do it so can I. I have received so much profound fortitude from reading this book to use in my own life. I will try harder thinking of Mama Moon. My life has been changed from reading this book, I am so happy that this story is now a part of me.
Thank You!

"Mama Moon," like the woman herself, is unforgettably inspirational Jul 06, 2009
By My Phuong Tran How could one person -- a delicate-looking woman -- have withstood and survived (nay, thrived) after having experienced abuse, rejection, abandonment, poverty, hardships, tragedy, and yet still preached gratitude? Whenever I'd feel sorry for myself for any reason, I'd remember Mama Moon's words reminding her daughter (the author) that she was lucky to be:
...living in "this wonderful country," the United States.
...able to receive an education.
...able to read and write.
...have two arms and two legs.
...able to eat anything she wanted, whenever she wanted.
...able to work hard and become whatever she chose to be.
Mama Moon was an inspiration to those who knew her and now to those (like me) who know of her courage and resilience through her daughter's book. Thank you, Susan, for generously and bravely sharing your mother's story.

Wow Apr 12, 2009
By Kelli Moore This was an amazing story about a truly amazing woman. It is very well written. Mama Moon feels so real. I love that the story doesn't gloss over the bad or make the good shine too brightly. It's simply the story of a life well lived. Moon's strenth and determination are beyond anything I have ever read or heard of before. I read the book in two nights, I just couldn't put it down. It's certian to inspire anyone who thinks life has handed them too much tragedy.

Mama Moom: ATestament to the Human Spirit Apr 10, 2009
By Highland Bruce
"HighlandBruce"
This is the courageous story of one woman who traveled to America after the Korean War with her military husband only to be left during the Viet Nam War for another woman. Alone in a foreign country with 3 small children this incredible, self sufficient, hard working woman manages to deal and prosper without the basic fundamentals to read in English. Like many who came to these shores in the 19th and early 20th century, Moon manages to lift herself up from a potential welfare recipient, and ensure that her family has the essentials, and accumulate a fortune in real estate. This is a must read for all those individuals who believe that they are unable to overcome what life has dealt. Moon succeeded because she simply did not know how to fail. Moon is a modern day Scarlett O'Hara.
