This is a gorgeous book of not only incredibly detailed and varied black and white mandalas, but also beautiful writings.
The images are truly stunning....other-worldly and organic at the same time. The contrast of black and white makes the mandalas nearly leap off the page. And it seems I can really feel the different energy patterns of each one. And have I mentioned the detail?! (I can't imagine how much time it must take to create some of these.) They are definitely awe-inspiring.
The second great feature of this book is the writings. Peter Barreda is as eloquent with his pen in the literary arts as he is in his mandala creation. This book is full of finely crafted information on the history and significance of the mandala and also offers a description and some background to several specific images. It gives us ideas on how to approach the mandala and on our connection with the universe.
This book is so packed with information that I will be reading it again and again - either to "relearn" the wisdom or just to enjoy the images. I highly recommend this book for anyone, but especially those who want to have a deeper understanding of the mandala and all it signifies for us.
