A wonderful book for our 13 and 10 year olds--and for us too! Dec 05, 2011

We brought this book on a vacation with our grandkids, to read to them at bedtime. They quickly got involved with the story, so much that they didnt want us to stop. we finally persuaded them that we would dip back in the next day before dinner, as well as before bedtime and do our best to finish the story before that had to go home. By the end of the vacation, we had finished the book and they have been eager to learn if Marco will be taking another voyage. It was fascinating to see how much they learned from Marco's experiences as well as how Marco's experiences triggered ideas with them.
Fabulous - Fun - Entertaining - Educational Jan 06, 2011
By Tricia F. Marco Polo Blackberry is excellent. It is a great way to engage young readers through an exciting adventure, while learning about real life lessons based on history and geography. The characters are so much fun and keep the emotion throughout the story. A must read for teens and adults, too!
Amazing book, intelligent, thought-provoking Oct 10, 2010
By ZeldaDK Marco Polo Blackberry is a wonderful book for adults and 6-8th graders alike to read. The story will take the reader across many academic disciplines, to numerous countries, and into many cultures and viewpoints. This book was taught to a group of 7th and 8th graders at my inner-city public school and many of the students, who do not normally literally rush home to read a book after a full day of school or choose to sit in a quiet spot at lunch to keep reading, chose to do just that and read ahead of their assigned reading because they loved the book so much. This book has turned self-proclaimed "non-readers" into bookworms! Plus, Marco Polo Blackberry is both a novel and a type of textbook (complete with a glossary, vocabulary words, and even a wordsearch!) thus, making this book even more fun and multifaceted for readers of all ages.
Great Read!! Apr 18, 2010
By MP Fan 2000 I read this book simultaneously with my teenage son. We both found this book to be insightful and delightful. Heller takes the reader on an international journey help together by a group of caring young people that use current day technology to help those in need. A series of current topics are discussed and explained. I also appreciated the author's glossary at the end, what a wonderful addition to this book!
For the intelligent young reader Feb 24, 2010
By Aud in FL A great book for the bright, technology oriented young reader. Themes include ways that young people can use their friendships, brains and hearts to make a positive impact in the world. Not soppy- Engaging and smartly written.
