Men Are Like Mocha Lattes

A “singleton” for longer than she cares to remember, Lisa understands all too well the desire to flee upon being asked the question “Why aren’t you married?” Far from the “Desperate Housewife” that she aspired to be, Lisa was a Desperate HomeGirl, spending her Saturday nights in front of the TV. As a lawyer-in-training with an artist’s spirit, Lisa juggled human rights courses with acting classes until she was called to the Bar of Ontario. Brief contracts with a Toronto law firm and the federal government convinced her that the pursuit of happiness would involve a more creative path. After a six-month trip to New Zealand, Lisa joined Privilege Magazine as a writer and then Editor-in-Chief, publishing several articles and interviews. She has since focused on her own writing and acting pursuits, and is a guest columnist for the Jewish Magazine. An avid traveler, Lisa has lived in France, Peru and Switzerland. Her search for Mr. Right came to an end this year when she was married in February. She currently lives in the artist-friendly community of Orangeville, Ontario with her husband Lyle and several African violets.

4Fun and Refreshing  Jun 12, 2008
Part memoir, part fiction, Men are Like Mocha Lattes is a light fun beach read about the struggle to find "Mr. Right".

I found the protagonist very believable and could totally relate to her bad relationships and the awkward situations she gets herself into by being too nice. There were a number of laugh out loud moments and I found the book hard to put down!

The author's tone is quite witty and reminds me of Sophie Kinsella's style. I thought this was a great read and look forward to her next one!

1Men are like Mocha Lattes are like women  May 03, 2008
I read this book because I was stuck on an island for 3 days. (long story). I started it with an open mind. I think it's a perverse way to look at things. Sure. Men are like mocha lattes. But if you're going to make that kind of a statement, then so are women. But I'm not here to put women down. I'm not a woman hater. I love women. I live love. Love my life and love my girlfriend. Why put others down? I mean, come on. Nobody is perfect. And playing the blame game is a lose-lose scenario. If men are like mocha lattes, so are women. Some men are like a cup of crap. So are women. Some men are like kings. Some women are like queens, and then some. Putting a humorous spin to make ones frustrations and hatred less venomous is a transparent joke. We all have an equal part in life, friendships, and relationships.

Absolutely loved it! This is the perfect book when you are craving for something fun, and very, very entertaining! Could not put the book down...I've just turned 30, got married less than a year ago, and could identify with the main character. It does not matter if you are single, married, divorced, or newlywed; I guarantee you'll enjoy every page of Men Are Like Mocha Lattes...I can't wait for Lisa Summer's second novel!!!

5A Great Read!  May 14, 2007
I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Men Are Like Mocha Lattes!!!" As a single woman in my 30's, I enjoyed relating to the self-talk of the main character in regards to her frustrations of being single...it's good to know you're not alone!!! Regardless of one's maritial status however, you'll enjoy this book!! It is entertaining, enlightening, humerous and well written.
