Powerful Jul 19, 2006
By J Brodt I stumbled upon this book and from the first page, was completely blown away. I am not Jewish and was expecting to read and learn about the plight of others, but found that this is in fact truly a human story that spoke directly to my heart, poetically and powerfully demonstrating the power of family, love, compassion and intelligence in the face of inhuman barbarism. There are more lessons to be learned about this amazing woman's attitude about life than can be counted. An amazing read.

Middle Andzia: a memoir Aug 16, 2007
By Stefan Larsson
"Alicja Larsson"
There are many books written on the subject of The Holocaust and I've read many of them trying to comprehend the incomprehensible: the murder of the 6 000 000 Jews, among them several of my relatives. It has been a long time ago that I read a book as touching and as horrifying as "Middle Andzia" at the same time being such a powerful historical document.

Thank you Andza Jun 24, 2007
By Valerie Arnon Living in Israel amongst WWII "graduates" I meet survivors every day. I've also done some of my own reasearch about my neighbors and written some books. But Andza's work transcends anything I have ever done. What a vivid writer! What insight! What observation! That of an intelligent young Polish Jewish girl living with her family through years of murder and dehumanization. And throughout, she retains her human beauty. Painful as it is, reading this book is an uplifting and even cathartic experience

Haunting memoir Sep 09, 2011
By Sophie Weinzimmer A haunting and beautifully written memoir. The author stunningly captures the imagery of pre-war life in her beloved hometown of Sambor,Poland. In the detailed history of her experience of the war, she chronicals many levels of loss. I was moved to tears. The author expertly captures the sights, sounds, and smells of her experience. You absorb her life force in every cell of your being as you read this book. She grasps the true essence of the Holocaust as a human, not merely a Jewish tragedy. She exemplifes and inspires in both her story and insight, the glory of action, the bliss of growth of the human spirit, and daily gratefulness for the beauty in the world--no matter how challenging and horrific the circumstance.
