Mind Games

From 1972 to 1995, the CIA oversaw an out-of-body, psychic spy program that operated out of the Stanford Research Institute in Palo Alto known as Star Gate. Against this historical background - the data on Star Gate was declassified by the Clinton Administration in 1995 - enter Tom McKenna, an insouciant, San Francisco based private eye, with a sixth degree black belt in an exotic martial arts form and a innate intolerance of evil. McKenna is approached by Gloria Stryker, the highly successful but equally disturbed CEO of a biotechnology firm, who knows she is being stalked, but cannot see the stalker. The alluring Ms. Stryker has a patent pending on a cutting edge gene that is the subject of covetous interest, attention and jealousy from her well-funded and morally challenged competitors. Despite an often volatile relationship with his client, McKenna must find the stalker before Gloria Stryker loses her sanity and one of the most profound genetic breakthroughs of the century.

2Review of Mind Games  Aug 30, 2010
The book has an interesting plot. Too much profanity. Some of the sexual scenes were too perverted for my taste.

5I truly enjoyed reading this novel!  Nov 14, 2009
What a pleasant surprise! I didn't know what to expect but was quite intrigued by the title. The book was a very enjoyable read with vivid characters and a very interesting plot. It shed some light on programs that were actually carried out by the CIA which were quite an eye opener.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys detective novels. It is one of the more pleasant reads I've experienced in a while and I would compare it with some of the best in this genre. I'm looking forward to more Tom McKenna novels.

5An intense, riviting page turner!  Oct 11, 2009
Mind Games is one of those books you don't want to put down - I didn't want to go to sleep, but wanted to keep reading. It's a great trip with great action, and all too real. I enjoyed all of the California locations so accurately described by the author.

5Loved Tom McKenna  Sep 21, 2009
I loved Tom McKenna. I sure hope this turns into a series.

This one reminds me of Lee Child's Reacher and Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp novels.

Good ones like this don't come out fast enough for me.

Can't wait to see what's next.

5Couldn't put the book down.  Jun 23, 2009
Started this great book on an early Saturday afternoon at the beach and finished it that night. Seriously couldn't put the book down. Wolfe creates great characters that you can care about and weaves a great tale. Totally worth the time to read and I cannot wait for another Tom McKenna novel!
