amazing book Jul 14, 2008
This is an amazing book. Dr. Ermak explains in easy-to-read language the cutting-edge medical technologies of the day, how they came about, their successes and failures (in the past) and how they are likely to affect science and medicine for years to come.
I am a first-year medical student (early in my training) at Stanford. I read this book in my spare time over summer and I walked away feeling like I had solidified my grasp on current scientific technologies and their realistic applications in the future (when I think of my own research questions).
The book is such a great/easy read (and without jargon) that I gave my copy (once read) to my retired father, who is perpetually curious about advancements in biology/medicine but has no background in the health sciences. However, while it can be read and understood by anyone, it is comprehensive enough that I would recommend it even to a true-to-the-bones scientist or anyone aspiring to be one (like myself!)
