What a great read! Jan 02, 2010
By Virginia A. Hirsch In Mother Nature's Prophets, Bill Bussey has created a work of fiction with all the elements of a good read including magic, drama, sex and intrigue and still delivers an effective message about environmental degradation! Beaver Point is perhaps your Anywhere small town USA where profits, greed, self interest and local politics dominated by a few big fish in a small pond trump the greater good--in this case the clear and certain message that there are too many of us, that we consume too much of the earth's resources and the result is the extinction of the rest of God's creatures. The unlikely hero, Isaiah and his congregation of assorted prophets that make up the Mother Nature Church eventually succeed in delivering their message to the community with the help of a squirrel named Daniel and a hand from Mother Nature herself. The book holds the reader's interest, delivers some surprises and leaves the reader chuckling while also shining a way forward toward a more eco- balanced world.

What a delightful book. This story which combines an enviromental message with laugh out loud humor is one which should be read by everyone who is concerned with "saving our planet and its resources". As a selection from our book club, I was hesitant to read this local author, but what a great surprise. The story was captivating and funny and a delight to read. I wish that it would become a best seller as the message was clear but given in an easy to read and enjoyable manner. Thank you Bill for a great book.

By Margaret M. Bant What an imagination to produce such an interesting tale with a contemporary theme! At first I was skeptical but the characters grab you and you empathize with them more and more as you read. The "dregs of society", so to speak, were able to see the world as it is and find a way to impart their insight to those who needed to hear it so they could listen. The message is profound.
