Will there be any stars in my crown Apr 16, 2008

Mr. Malik is base on a true story. Meet Gilbert "Malik" Satterwhite one of the most respect and feared men in North and West Philadelphia. Malik is the second in command his partner and friend Myron "Mr. Millionaire" Walker is one of the biggest drug dealers in Philly. The story starts with them in the middle of a drug war. The Yr is 1969 and the book continues to 1972.
The Author Troy Parham explains the meaning of the sub title in the first few pages, the meaning is deep. You will have to read the book, as I am not telling. This book has it all, murder, backstabbing, adultery, crooked cops, crooked federal agents, Politian's. Follow this story, as Malik has to make some tough choices to save those close to him
This book is written in 1st person and put together well. Troy does a great job with the street lingo of that era and the poetry is wonderful. His description is on point. I look forward to his next one, as he is a great writer.

Counting the Stars Oct 07, 2008
By Katherine M. Martin There are so many reasons why this book was great. First, it put a human face on a "gangster". Malik was a family man. Not only did the book talk about the relationship between him and his child. But it described how he took care of a child that wasn't his own. The book also showed the love and bond that only twins have. The second reason was this book took a different approach to a story that has been told before. The book uses poetry to describe the inner thoughts of Malik. I felt this book did a great job in capturing the essence of a man torn between the life he wants and the life he has.

True Blood Nov 23, 2008

"O.O.S.A. Gets It Read!"
"Mr. Malik" is based on a true story and it begins during a war. Malik has made many decisions in his life including fathering someone's child and being one of the biggest drug kings in Philly, along with his good friend Mr. Walker. More money brings more problems and then leads to a rivalry war involving Mr. Mali and other drug lords. An important decision needs to be made before it's too late. Will he make the right decision?
"Mr. Malik: Will There Be Any Stars in My Crown?" by Troy and Trevor Parham is a G-R-E-A-T book! The book is straight gangsta and it's filled with action, adultery, murder, and more. The story, written in first person narrative, uses poetry to display feelings and emotions of the characters. This is a must read and I recommend to anyone who enjoys intense drama. I really enjoyed reading this book and will look for more books by these authors in the future.
