If you don't love Beaufort SC already, you will after you've read this! Feb 04, 2010 I thoroughly enjoyed this book, a fun filled mystery that captures each of the characters so well you feel like you know them! I love the way she has written and described Beaufort, it has made me see it in a whole new light. Not to mention the fact that I'll doubly be looking forward to this years water festival!!
I couldn't put this book down and I can't wait for Linda's next book.

Deligthful S.C. Low Country Read Nov 09, 2009 MURDER BOILS OVER is a delightful "cozy" mystery -- cozy because you don't have to worry about blood, guts, and explicit violence, but at the same time you get involved in a murder and a kidnapping that keep you turning the pages as spunky (but not too spunky, thank god!) protagonist Maggie Stewart finds herself in the thick of things. The mystery boils over with characters who might--or might not--be suspects, and while all Maggie really wants to do is run her interior decorating biz, Low Country Interiors, and help her good friend Alice open her cooking store/school in Beaufort, a body turns up, and then Alice is kidnapped, and Maggie is pulled in. The story is full of twists and turns, fast action and lots of plot, but the real strength of the book is the depiction of Maggie's life in Beaufort and on Seaward Island, where she lives a short boat ride away from Beaufort. Clearly the writer knows the area well and loves it. It's fun to visit the low country via Maggie, and meet her friends. Maggie is a benevolent soul who likes a lot of people and wants to believe the best about them. She loves her dogs and she loves to eat! She's always popping something delicious into her mouth, and cooling off with sweet ice tea. The book is studded with (easy) recipes for Southern treats such as Sweet Potato Pudding, Hoe Cakes, Peach Cobbler and Corn Fritters. One can really experience the heat of a Southern coastal summer, and appreciate the beauty of the low country via Maggie. Though you may be surprised at "who done it" you've already gotten your money's worth from spending time with Maggie in her beloved coastal South Carolina.
