great read! Mar 30, 2009
By Anne L. Tal
"Annie"
What a great read! A feisty heroine, a fascinating assortment of other characters (are they friends or foe?), an exotic setting for action and danger for Jazmine, our heroine, and maybe romance? I could not put the book down and recommend it highly to mystery readers! (reviewed by Helen B.)

Fun!!! Feb 16, 2009
By On The Road Again Fun and quick read. Quirky characters and laugh out loud moments. Nice descriptions of Tel Aviv. Grab a towel, this book and head to the beach for a relaxing afternoon.

Good story, amateur writing Jun 12, 2009
By Emme Sokol

The author has created a decent story, and the details about life in Tel Aviv and dealing with the Hebrew language were nicely done. However, the quality of the writing leaves much to be desired--bland dialogue, cliches, grammar and spelling errors that go beyond mere typos (it's instead of its, "stiletto heals" (p. 63)), etc.
Jaz isn't "spunky" -- as a main character, she's a bit unbelievable. Calamity after calamity befalls her, but she blithely thinks everything is okay and continues to put herself in unbelievable and dangerous situations. She comes off mostly as stupid, not spunky.
I think McVaugh shows talent in her storytelling, but I was hoping for something a bit more sophisticated.

Fast paced, romance & intrigue Sep 03, 2011
By Kate McVaugh REVIEWED by Lynn Farris at Mystery Review Examiner.
"For me, there isn't anything much better than combining a mystery with exotic travel. "Murder, Jaz and Tel Aviv" by Kate McVaugh offers a fascinating story of a young single woman from the United States living in Tel Aviv.
"I strongly recommend this book. It is fast paced and full of romance and intrigue. I really enjoyed learning more about Tel Aviv and the culture there. Reading about the difficulty that one faces not knowing the language or the culture and trying to survive is always fascinating. The book would have been wonderful even without the intriguing mystery. I am hoping that Jaz reappears in a series as she is a compelling character."

Visit to Tel Aviv Apr 11, 2009
By Ilaine F. Denslow It's always a treat to visit a city you don't know while enjoying a mystery filled with interesting characters. Delightful read from a new author. Hopefully there will be more adventures that take us to other cities.
