Touching and Informative Oct 08, 2009

I was quite suprised just how touching this children's book is - as well as informative.
As you can see from the title, it is told from the viewpoint of the boy who admires his surfing dad and longs to share the experience. The boy finally gets to the age where his dad will teach him to surf. The boy drinks in the knowlege of the board, types of waves, and surfing etiquette, all while learning that surfing our oceans is a gift that needs to be returned by keeping the beaches clean for everyone.
Loved the story, the information, and I think this is a wonderful childrens book.

This is a wonderful book that all 3 of my kids love to read. We live in the Northeast..we do not surf..but the topic is fascinating and my kids love learning about something new. It has a great message about going out of your comfort zone, learning something new, and the process of reaching that goal. It also has a beautiful message about giving back to the earth and preserving our beaches. Love this book...can't wait for more from the author.

We just got our copy of My Daddy Taught Me To Surf a few weeks ago to read to our twins, and it has quickly turned into our favorite. It is so much more then just a cool story, and we are looking forward to sharing the valuable lessons with our sons as they grow. The book is easy to read and the drawings are great. We highly recommend it and hope your family loves it as much as ours.

My Daddy Taught Me to Surf is an exceptionally well written and adorably illustrated tale of a father who shares his passion for surfing with his young son. The author introduces young readers to surf terminology in a way that is easily understood while creating an intense excitement for the sport. My little boy loves to read this book and is now eagerly looking forward to the day that he will be able to paddle out.

Written to capture the simplicity and joy that is surfing, this is a great book to share with your son or daughter. This is exactly how it was captured in my family.
