4Access to All Areas. Walter's Uncensored Biography?  Oct 03, 2003
By Jim M. Van Cise "My Pen is Huge"
It's an honor to be the first person to write a review for this. I haven't read all of Walter's books. Some parts of the book are almost painfully boring but others are very revealing. I didn't enjoy Jamie's memoirs about their road trips and other little moments that seemed insignificant to me. I'd say the second half of the book is more interesting than the first. I feel funny saying this because I always felt that Walter had a way of making the boring seem interesting. The Color of Money is one example. Eddie's routine in the final days of the Tahoe pool tournament: renting swim trunks, tearing out the inner lining, working out etc. This was good writing even if it was every day stuff. My background: A 33 year old single guy with a pool table in the basement. I also once lived with an alcoholic roommate who hanged himself in my basement. Walter's battles with the bottle (thoroughly covered by Jamie) helped me understand my own hauntings better. Jamie also shares a lot of photos of the extended Tevis family. Her home address, e-mail address and other info are listed surprisingly. A lengthly list of Walter's short stories are credited but I assume, hard to find in magazines printed half a century ago.
