Ok for a quick read... Feb 14, 2008
By Lacey Wright
"laceygw"
I'm extremely suspicious of this book getting 17 5-star ratings. It was alright! Seriously though, any more than 3 stars is generous.
THE BAD:
It's quite basic, explaining how to set up a myspace page, etc. Now, maybe I'm biased because I was not new to MySpace when I purchased the book. I already knew about bulletins and blogs and messages and how things work on MySpace. I was more interested in getting more traffic to my band's page.
Certain things about the book were frustrating. For instance, there is a subheading in one of the chapters titled "Getting on the Front Page." Well, in that section it talks about what a great opportunity it is to get on MySpace's homepage. (Duh.) However, it does NOT tell you how to accomplish this. Instead, it states how unlikely it is, but that it's a "wild dream for everybody." Useless. Basically, the book tended to tell you which things would be good things for you to do but then left you clueless as to how to go about it.
There was a type-o probably every 5th or 6th page, and that REALLY irritated me. It was hard to take the book seriously when it clearly had not been edited.
THE GOOD:
It is a quick read. You could go through the whole book in a day.
It talked a good deal about promotions for your band. Although, most of it involved writing or hiring a writer rather than flyers or other traditional techniques I assumed would be the most proficient.
Nicky Kalliongis obviously has a lot of contacts and has done some great stuff in his musical career. ... but I would not by any means consider him a good author.
Anyway, yeah, 3 stars, no more.

Very useful for musicians Oct 23, 2007
By Ardin Lalui This book is very useful for up and coming musicians. I've shared it with my musician friends and all of them have found something useful inside. The book is pretty comprehensive and covers the whole range of options that you have to promote your music, generate interest, get publicity and most important of all, create a buzz.
The books starts with the very basics of how to open a Myspace account and builds from there to explain how social networking works, how to set up your own music website, and how to get noticed.
The book could also be useful for other people in the arts such as actors, writers etc. who face similar challenges of getting thier work noticed.
This book is worth considering if you are trying to increase your exposure online.

Incredible amount of information! Sep 18, 2007
By Mike Novus Incredible amount of information! No one wanted to share all this industry "secret" knowledge with anyone before, I can't believe that all this is available in a easy to follow format. Hope seminars are on the way.

Nothing else comes close.............. period Aug 29, 2007

I've read numerous books trying to provide what this book gives you, and nothing is nearly as comprehensive. Everything you need is here, all the tools, you just have to be willing to do the work. There are other books that will walk you thru the basics, as this book does, but once you get past point A, this book takes off on it's own and is without peers. I highly recommend this to anyone dealing with music and the internet, especially MySpace. Just makes the vast, confusing new world out there make total sense in a very easy to read, enjoyable package. Now you can really take advantage of the unlimited opportunities waiting out there for you. Forget all the others, get this book................

Excellent, well written book that is hands on useful Oct 26, 2007
By Sandra Baker As a novice I was skeptical, but the book is the real deal. Not only does this book contain helpful information on getting started and staying strong, but it is written in an easy to read fashion perfect for anyone wanting to break in. I read it and love it, and plan to go back and read it again as I implement the strategies listed. Perfect choice for my need.
