A fine and highly recommended read May 08, 2009 The image of businessmen who doesn't understand the meaning of ethics is commonly what people think of when they think of millionaire success. "Nice Guys Finish First: How to Succeed in Business and Life" is author Barrie Bergman's call for ethics and courtesy, claiming such virtues do have their place in the modern world of business, and do not doom their champions to failure. Packed with advice to the would-be nice guy business man, "Nice Guys Finish First" is a fine and highly recommended read.

Doing Well By Doing Right Feb 28, 2009 This is a great book, which I have highly recommended to my entrepreneurial graduate and undergraduate students. Barrie's anecdotes, describing how respectful and honest behavior has served him well, are an effective counterbalance to the non-stop, negative stereotypes of "evil businessmen and women" put forth by the media and Hollywood.
There are a number of great lessons in this book, all of which are described in a breezy, easy to digest style.
Not only is this a great book for entrepreneurial students, it is a worthwhile read for anyone who desires to become a leader, whether in business, or any other field.
A Timeless Message for a Critical Time. Feb 13, 2009 I have been awaiting this book from Barrie for a year or so now. Working under Barrie and his management team at Record Bar was some of the happiest times I can remember. We were all given a framework to work within but allowed creativity and incentive to make our individual operations prosper. Barrie was always accessible and present in our world with excellent communication and leadership. I loved that he encouraged us to establish healthy relationships that allowed work to be something you left at work. Your career did not define you but allowed you the levity to have a great life outside of work. We were all treated with kindness and made to feel as an extended part of the family. Many, many fond memories and lasting relationships came from this experience. This feeling has extended across the years and miles and still pervades those of us than knew him even remotely.
Buy the book whether you be a corporate general or an ordinary Joe. Put down your corporate kool-aid and become human again, the rest of the real world awaits you.
