Nicholas, You are... Ridiculous!

“Nicholas, you are ridiculous!” is a beautifully illustrated picture book about the silly antics of a Shiba Inu puppy. His young companion, who loves big words, follows Nicholas through a day of mischief and fun, as the little dog does all the doggy things that inevitably lead to disaster. All ends well, of course, and the reader is left with a warm and fuzzy feeling! This enchanting little character is based on Olena Kassian’s own Shiba Inu, Nikki Olena Kassian is an internationally recognized artist. Her work has appeared on billboards in Hong Kong Harbour, T-shirts at the San Diego Zoo and on the supermarket labels of companies like Del Monte and Gerber’s. She has illustrated books for Reader’s Digest, Greey de Pencier and Scholastic, to name a few, and has written four books, of which the most recent are ”One Special Tree” and now, “Nicholas, you are ridiculous!”. She also exhibits her large drawings in galleries, notably Oeno Gallery. Olena lives in Toronto.

4A must for shiba owners  Nov 16, 2009
Everyone who has a shiba will recognize them in the book. The drawings are beautiful and the story is cute. I think it is a must have for all shiba owners.

5Nicholas, You are indeed a Ridiculous shiba pup!  Nov 16, 2009
I'm so excited there's a shiba inu kids book out there I'm a owner of a 6 month shiba inu pup named and she is just like Nicholas sometimes, but she's pretty well behaved.

The book is a great book for a kid or a shiba inu owner I really enjoyed the artwork and how it really portrays how cute and how naughty a shiba inu puppy can be. The book is written really well and I enjoyed every page of it.

I recommended this book to any dog lover and especially shiba inu lovers to get this book for you or for your kids.

Shiba inu is a breed that's not for everyone, but for the ones that are a match for shiba inu they are wonderful. Like with all breeds before deciding on what breed is right for you do tons and tons of research and read plenty of blogs, books and anything you can on the breed and select a good reputable breeder.

Shiba inu are very cute as puppies and even as adults, but one should never get a dog just based on a book or kids movie it takes tons of reading and research to be sure if the shiba is the right breed for you. They can be cat like and to some dog owners not used to this.

5Nocholas, you are RIDICULOUS!  Oct 16, 2009
This a wonderfully delightful book for young and old alike. The illustrations are beautifully done. I love this book and so will my grandchildren. This puppy is adorable you can't help but love him.

5A fantastic book!!  Sep 26, 2009
We have two Shiba Inu dogs and this book made us laugh page after page. We don't even have children yet and bought this book to save until we do. It's fantastic!

5A delightful book about a delightful dog  Aug 27, 2009
Warning: this review is biased. My friend Sharon breeds and shows shibas; in the past decade she's had over a couple dozen puppies and adults. Her grandson Nicholas will be five soon. His mother (Sharon's daughter) has often lovingly told him, "Nicholas, you are rediculous!" So we were delighted when we discovered this new book and ordered a couple to give Nicholas one along with his other birthday presents. (I'll edit this review after he's seen it to give you his reaction. September 30: As predicted, he loved it at first sight and wants it read to him over-and-over by his parents or older brother.)

The booklet's drawings accurately portray a shiba puppy and the accompanying comments are charming and appropriate. Nicholas will probably want it read to him many times altho I don't know how well the paperback will hold up.

We of course agree that shibas are wonderful dogs but they're not all the same; like people, they each have their own personality. Most are outgoing but a few are shy which can be overcome if they're socialize and trained early on as they mature. If you'd like to learn more about shibas, we suggest Shiba Inus (Complete Pet Owner's Manual) or Shiba Inu (Kennel Club Dog Breed Series).
