colorful children's book on coping with loss and grief Apr 15, 2009

I think this book is helpful in opening up discussion with children about grief and loss. Whether it is the loss of a pet, family member, or an item that they are emotionally attached to. It is presented so that children of various ages can relate to the pictures and the text without feeling that they are "being talked" at or "lectured to" This book is appropriate for children from elementary school through middle or junior high school. I have gotten this book for several of my young family members who have never suffered a loss, so that they can be more sensitive and mindful of others that are grieving.

I loved Nakita's Journey.
I think this is an excellent book to help children (or anyone) learn to express themselves in a time of loss.
I would really recommend this book a coping tool and should be on every child's bookshelf.
The illustrations are beautifully drawn, bright and vibrant.
