Gus Beatty ended every sentence with “ bottom line , not for nuttin´ ". “ Ritchie " he said to me a week before he died from another overdose, “ You see so much on these streets - you do it differently , you gotta tell the stories and about the love – bottom line, not for nuttin´ ". So I call the pieces - Not for Nuttin´. 5A Real Look at Real Life...Very Moving  Jan 21, 2010
By Edward Stamas
Richard Hendrick makes you feel like you are with him as he goes about his work on the streets. His stories capture the real emotion, pathos and reality of the homeless. His book gives the the reader a rare look at people who are living life beyond the scope many of us would think possible, yet, he presents his stories in a way that also reflect the hope and compassion that he lives everyday. He is able to to make us all feel part of his world, and his stories bring us there with the real empathy and wit that comes from him and the people he meets.

5Lives that matter--and why...  Nov 27, 2009
By Edward J. Hendrick, Jr.
Richard has given us all an opportunity to see and be present to lives we acknowledge exist, but which we mostly glimpse out of the corner of our eye as we hurry to and from all our important places. Richard tells us a little of their stories and, along the way, a lot about his own story of quiet, steady, unsung committment to being present to others. Today, when our society seems to celebrate loudness over thought, rageful opinion over civil discourse, it is wonderful to know that Richard's contribution was often just being there, just listening.

5Beautiful Journey!  Nov 17, 2009
By Caroline A. Seymour
I have always known how blessed I am! However, after reading "Not for Nuttin'", I have a more profound understanding of these blessings.
The manner in which Richard deals with his "folks", is truly amazing and heart-warming. We can all learn from this book! Let us not forget...There go I but for the grace of God!
God bless you, my dear brother, for writing such an important piece. Job well done!

5Appreciation  Nov 01, 2009
By Mary E. Bolderman "lover of life"
This book was written from the author's soul! I read it in one sitting. I'm even more appreciative of my health, and well being after glimpsing how "some folks" have to live. I'm also mindful of the hardships that social workers deal with and how they have to know how to communicate tough love aside from being compassionate. Richard Hendrick is a special, hardworking, successful individual possessing a loving heart! Now, he adds published writer to his resume`.

5Roommate Proud  Oct 18, 2009
By Viateur J. Beaudreau "D.A.'s Roommate"
I had the good fortune to be Richard's roommate in college. If there was ever anyone who should write this story it is Richard. His passion will shine through in this monograph. I'm certain his clients (the homeless) got a virtual home from his compassion. I am very proud of him.
